Another one of Rhys' pedal builds has arrived at my place. The Rhys I Loome is very similar to my Seppuku Dynamic Echo Modulator.
It is a delay based on the PT2399 chip, but with much longer delay times than 300 ms only. It offers more than 4 seconds or so, but with lo-fi sound and lots of crazy artifacts. Short delay times result in very clean echoes. The switch enables distortion on the delay effect. "Slide" is a volume-dependent modulation that can go up or down (no function in middle position) which can either sound like a dynamic chorus effect or like a broken cassette tape. If turned to the maximum the delay effect sounds like a random noise generator.
The big knob is for the feedback. I'm not completely sure what the Gate knob is good for. So far I think it is a threshold level for when the delay effect is going to be active (no effect at low playing volume).
The pedal does also have a CV input, but I haven't had the time to try this out yet. Overall it is a very nice pedal that offers standard sounds as well as the crazy Seppuku-style sounds.
