I was checking my instagram and a new follower popped, looking it's page I think they are (or were) the Boss pedals painters in Taiwan.
A few pictures and videos of pedals being painted.
Interesting, isn't it?

What's with the odd looking DS-1, with all the extra holes in the treadle and out of position recess for the rubber pad?

Yeah, I saw that.SamXTherapy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:22 pmWhat's with the odd looking DS-1, with all the extra holes in the treadle and out of position recess for the rubber pad?
There are a few cases painted in different color schemes also.
Imagine the possibilities, an employee there could "create" unique Boss pedals, including those 3 unobtainable: 6 million golden DS-1, 8 million black chrome MT-2 and 10 million blue chrome BD-2.
The sky would be the limit for such money maker machine.

I'll just bet Roland/Boss keep a very tight rein on anything and everything. Maybe they do custom jobs for Boss staff or whatever but I can't imagine any unauthorised work would be tolerated.

Sure, but you know people.SamXTherapy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 9:27 pmI'll just bet Roland/Boss keep a very tight rein on anything and everything. Maybe they do custom jobs for Boss staff or whatever but I can't imagine any unauthorised work would be tolerated.
They could buy an used pedal from a given era and repaint it, Boss would never know.
Repaint beaten up vintage pedals and resell it as mint.
Even make clones of some expensive models like SP-1 and SG-1 out of cases of cheap NF-1.
Very difficult to control a smart and dishonest employee.
