Re: Boss OC-5 Octave *NEW BOSS PEDAL*
The worst thing is that the octave up mode sounds the same in the poly and vintage mode. I had loved an octave up fuzz in the vintage mode or a sound similar to the Pearl OC-07 Octaver or my KORG KOT-401. This compressed whining pitch shifting sound is utter crap. The Hotone OCTA does a way better octave up sound than this one.

my sentiments exactly, they coulda even tossed the Octavia mode of the FZ-5 into the vintage mode.Pepe wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 9:10 pmThe worst thing is that the octave up mode sounds the same in the poly and vintage mode. Is it me or every new Boss pedal in the last few years has been SOOO COOL ON PAPER and SOOO UNDERWHELMING in real life?

The VO-1 Vocoder is awesome! I bet the SY-1 Synthesizer is fantastic as well. But the others ... BOSS should really ask us what they should do. The DD-8 still doesn't have a tone knob - in the year 2020!

Agreed. The last new Boss pedal I had any interest in was the DM-2W. And that's 5 years ago. And it had a price-tag that I couldn't swallow and so I've never had one ... making do with the DD-7 i picked up for cheap at Cash Convertors.
Are we just becoming jaded/old-farts, or does Roland really need to take notice?
Re: Boss OC-5 Octave *NEW BOSS PEDAL*
Thanks for the heads up Pepe on the OC-5. I intend to use it with a drive pedal and I’m wondering whether that will improve things. We’ll see but not yet as I’m still waiting for the thing - the delivery date has gone back yet again !
Also, I completely agree that Boss should take a bit of time out to listen to their loyal customers, although that doesn’t seem to be their way. They are completely driven by innovation which I can understand but we can still contribute to that thinking !

An innovative thing had been to take the technology of the SY-300 for the note detection plus an awesome sounding octave up mode that offers instant 12-string guitar effects in poly mode and a fuzzy octave up sound in vintage mode.

I'll probably get one for Christmas, from me to me with love.
