Vintage Peavey Bandit 112 - thrift shop find
Picked up an unmolested 1989 Peavey Bandit 112 at the local Goodwill yesterday for USD$57
Didn't work because the speaker quick-connects were corroded plus all the pots needed cleaning. Under the grime it is in pretty good condition. I reckon it will be worth $250 when it is up-and-running. Thrift-store finds are clearly (rarely) still possible.
Currently stripped down for cleaning and maintenance. Pics to follow once it is back together...

Cool! The Bandit is one of the nicer sounding Peavey amps that I have heard so far. And the controls of the lead channel are very similar to the Peavey Dirty Dog overdrive pedal. I bet that they are also very similar in sound.

I'm guessing my first amp, a Peavy Rage 158, wouldn't fetch near that much, regardless of condition

Oh, it's another version of the Bandit that I didn't know. I only knew the two or three TransTube versions. Is this the very first edition?
sclitheroe: the Rage 158 is one of the most awful sounding practice amps from a well-respected brand that I know. I think that only the impossibly successful Line 6 Spider amps are worse (switch off the effects and hear for yourself).

This is a "Solo Series Bandit 112" with a Scorpion speaker.
It is actually pretty nice... for CAD$75/USD$57 from a thrift store.

Oh, I know! It was made all the worse by my total lack of understanding of how to use the amp or play guitar.Pepe wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 5:50 amOh, it's another version of the Bandit that I didn't know. I only knew the two or three TransTube versions. Is this the very first edition?

This brings back memories Laurie. I borrowed one of these years ago and went about deafening myself with it Cracking little amp. Really good find.
