I was wondering what type of diodes from Made in Japan run were most common for the SD-1 overdrive.
I’ve had 3 MIJ SD-1s in my hands - and they all had supposedly 1s1588 clipping diodes. The ones with orange base colour and thick black stripe.
I only have seen 1 forum comment stating the thick black stripe diodes are same as 1s1588 diodes with the blue stripe. The difference is stated as a different manufactorers produced the same diodes, but used different colours. Is this true?
What type of diodes does your MIJ SD-1 have?

Re: SD-1 clipping diodes
Welcome to the forum, man.
My 1981 NEC chip (version A board) has the black stripe clipping diodes.
Here's a lengthy thread that may answer your question.
