Battery AND power supply (?)

Post by Luke Drifter » Wed May 03, 2023 11:37 am

If you have a battery in your (say) DS-1, and you give it your good 9V or 12 V from a supply without removing the battery, does the power supply take over completely, or does it top up what ever the battery might not potentially be providing at the time (if it were fully charged)

Ive been comparing my growing collection of DS-1s, some powered, some batteried. I only have a few spare isolated power outputs and I dont want to be comparing the sound of various batteries

I presume the battery will still run down on a Boss pedal if you leave it plugged in and on with the power supply off (although i have a Sarno Earth Drive that doesn't)

At my advanced age, it sorta feels good to have a newby question to ask!

Yes.

No. There is a mechanical switch that cuts the positive leg of the battery snap off.

so - if you wanted to, and i probly never would - one could inset blank power jacks into the sockets of a chain of battery-powered pedals, rather than disconnect them all, to save batteries during a dinner break (?)
