Hi all of you Boss pedals experts : i've this "Made in Japan" CE-3 with black and white knobs Is it possible ?
I assume also the sticker should be green, wich is not obvious on the picture. Is it original or the botom plaque has been swapped at some point ? What do you think about this ?
It's not mine, i saw it for sale on this french site :

Welcome back! I remember you from the StompBoxZone forum. You had the avatar with colonel Sponsz from the adventures of Tintin.
I don't know if there were Taiwanese models with the somewhat odd potentimeter knobs. It could be possible that late MIJ models had the regular black and white knobs already.

Fairly sure the plate and knobs are not original...

Although I have seen that before, where older knobs were replaced with modern ones.
So it's not entirely rare.

There's quite a few CE-3s on eBay at the moment with those knobs and green labels but they all seem to be MIT.
According to BossArea 2.0:
Not sure if there was any crossover between the new knobs being introduced and production moving to Taiwan?
According to BossArea 2.0:
LINKThere are minor colour differences between versions of this pedal and from 1988 the CE-3 was shipped with white black knobs with white tops. The CE-3 was the first metallic coloured Boss compact pedal. The green label was introduced 1984 to indicate compliance with FCC rules and production moved to Taiwan, 1988.

Re: Boss CE-3 MIJ with black & white knobs ?
Thanks you all. The pedal is not mine and i only saw the pictures of it. I don't know if there's a serial inside the battery cache, i didn't ask.The seller claims it to be MIJ, but i don't think it actually is. I think the pedal is MIT and the knobs are original, but the bottom plate (or maybe just the sticker) has probably been swapped. The color of the sticker also doesn't match the usual lighter green of the MIJ and MIT pedals. (I actually own 3 MIJ and 1 MIT, all of them with the right green label color)
Cheers you lot !!
