Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
So... A while back, I've tried to use my PS-6 with an expression pedal.
For some reason, it stays "always on" when the expression pedal is plugged in. Is this normal behavior? I'd want to use it for "Whammy" style effects, but only on some songs so having the tone tainted as "always on" sucks.
Anyone has had experience with that?

Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
I just had a look at the manual. BOSS clearly recommends the Roland EV-5 or the FV-500(L/H) as expression pedals. Others could lead to malfunction. What kind of pedal did you plug in?
Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
It was a Boss FV-30L.

My new SY-1 reacts the same way, with the recommended Expression pedal. BUT I can manually put to "off" with the foot-switch, was it impossible for you to turn it off at all?
Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
No, that's the first thing I tried. I mean, it made sense for me to control the swell with the expression pedal and then turn off te effect, like most Wahs out there anyways. But the footswitch wouldn't do anything.

Tried my PS-6 and it reacts just as yours, it´s not a good idea from Boss....
Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
Well, That sucks. I guess the "off" setting is when the pedal senses a "0" volume (at least it's my understanding from the manual)? Is there even a way to shut it off?

Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
Goran, what expression pedal did you use? I'm trying to find videos of people using different expression pedals to see if it's just the FV-30 that is not compatible because it does not have a "volume" knob. It does specify int he manual you need to set the minimum volume at "0" on an FV-500L/H or EV-5 otherwise things won't work correctly.
I'm pissed right now because I have everything I need for it to sound perfect except for an "on-off" switch for the damn pitch shifting pedal. I mean, if all I need is an EV-5, I'll go for it, but it needs to work.

Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
I have an EV-5, and minimum volume set to 0.
Re: Boss PS-6 Harmonizer Expression
Have you got an LS-2 Gasgano? If so, you could put the PS-6 in one of its loops to turn it on/off. Not ideal I know but might solve your problem if the pedal itself operates like this.
