I made an executive decision and couldn't wait any longer, lol

I bought a Black Label MIT SD-1 from March of 1988. Since I saw an MIJ SD-1 from 1986 I decided this would probably be the closest thing to what I'm looking for. My old SD-1 had the serial number in the battery compartment as well so this looked like the perfect choice.

The early MIT like this one are really no different from MIJ, in my findings. Some are more rare, like a MIT CE1.

I speculated the exact same thing. It definitely sounded different than any new off the shelf SD-1. Really cool to have someone else think the same thing! Wow! I thought they quite making the CE-1 after the CE-2 was released or before it's release. That would cool to find!

Your SD1 looks great!

My bad, I meant CE-2!

I had an 1989 MIT DS1 that sounded exactly like my early 80s MIJ DS1. Opened them up and they were pretty much the same, you could see some different caps were sourced and the circuit board was a different source or production run, but that was it.
