Hey Gang, Is there any data on when they stopped putting the serial numbers inside the battery compartment?
Also what year did Boss start building pedals in Taiwan?
Thanks, Josh
Boss Serial Number Labels
Re: Boss Serial Number Labels
I don't have the hard facts, but I'm sure someone on here does!
It seems that the serial numbers migrated out the battery compartment at the very beginning of the MIT era. I have owned MIT with MIJ style battery compartment labels. One early MIT DS1 I had was virtually indistinguishable from my MIJ DS1 except some minor cap differences, the color of the circuit board and the MIT label in the battery compartment.
Taiwan production started around 1988/9 with a few models (I think the DS1 and SD1) and it took a few years before all pedals were made there.

Rock On, I agree! It is safe to assume that 88/89 was the changeover era so that's a pretty good start.
