New BOSS pedals!
Re: New BOSS pedals!
I have an October 2010 GE7 with the Monte Allums Plus Mod coming! Pedal is excellent condition, the mod done very well. Best part, the modified pedal was $6 more than just getting the mod kit shipped to me. Figured the $6 was well spent and my MIJ GE7 can stay stock!

Nice! I guess this is a modification to reduce the hiss that appears when you turn some of the faders down, right? A friend told me that the GE-7 (and many other guitar EQs!) has that behaviour and that a modification was not the worst thing.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
The BOSS FDR-1 has arrived. It is in pretty good shape, but not in "new" condition as stated in the ebay article description. Especially the control plate has scratches and the chassis shows some strong signs of wear on some sides. But it came with the box and the manual, so for the price I cannot complain, really. Pictures will follow once I've given it a proper cleaning.
The overall sound is pretty cool. I have never played the real amp (in fact I haven't come across many vintage American amplifiers), but the "natural" overdrive is pretty convincing. And the reverb as well! Very cool sounding, especially the interaction of the overdriven sounds and strong reverb. It messes up the overall sound in a way that feels authentic. In very low gain settings the pedal stays very clean with only little tone colouration through my Marshall tube amp and then it can also serve as a good stand-alone reverb effect.
Did the original Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb have the "Vibrato" (it's a tremolo, Fender!
) in the path after the reverb? It sounds very unusual this way.
And the tremolo has a weird waveform. A little bit comparable to the "Repeat"-Tremolo of the vintage VOX guitars with the "ping"-like sound. Is that an attendant circumstance of the tube-based tremolo? It also doesn't allow for very slow speed rates. Am I allowed to find it rather useless, or will I be stoned if I do so?

Yes, it's a swap of all of the opamps and several caps and resistors to clean it up and get rid of the hiss. Also has a really bright white LED now.
If there was to be a GE7W, this noise reduction mod plus maybe a switchable XTS Midrange mod would be pretty cool.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
Now here are pictures of the BOSS FDR-1. I'm still annoyed that the seller said "new" in the ebay description, because the pedal has clearly been kicked around. I improved the bad looking spots with a black permanent marker and it still doesn't look perfect, but definitely better. I enjoy the sound of the two Legend Series pedals that I have and I hope that a cheap boxed FBM-1 will cross my way, too.

Shame about the dings... but nice pair.
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Very cool!
I have the FRV1, it's an intense spring reverb!

Frustrating about the dings when the seller claimed it was new. Glad you're enjoying the pedal though, Pepe.
I picked up an FRV-1 (well, two actually
) a few years back and it's a great pedal. I get periodic impulses to pick up the FBM-1 and/or FDR-1 but have managed not to succumb to them as yet
TBH I think the IR-2 probably has me covered for those tones now (and I've also got a Joyo/Harley Benton American Sound) but I still like the look of the Legend Series pedals.
Seeing as you now have two thirds of them though Pepe, it would be remiss of you not to track down an FBM-1 to complete the set

I have had the same impulses to get the FDR-1 and moreso, the FBM-1.
Same thing, though... The IR-2, as well as the Walrus ACS-1 and Behringer GDI21 have me flush with Bassman/Bassman adjacent models, plus the ACS-1 has a great Deluxe Reverb in it.
I also agree that Pepe might as well complete the trio, though! haha

Re: New BOSS pedals!
I had no other plans. But it has to come with the box and with a good price tag. That might take a while again.
