Amazing find! It's a time machine from 1980!

Yes, it is such a crazy and lucky find. I have just treated the crackling potentiometers with tuner spray and I have to remove the last bit of residue from the glue of the price tag. Then it will be ready for some photos.

Looks good, Pepe. I find those early ones have much less compression than later MIJ.
This fell into my lap last week. 1983 with a JRC4558DD to complement my 1981 that has an NEC op amp.

That's also a nice one. Great beat-up optics in a cool vintage way. Does it already have push-on potentiometer knobs? At least the Tone knob looks like it doesn't have a set screw.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
I cleaned the last parts of the DS-1 today. Here it is in all its glory:

This 3 millimetre scratch and the tiny nick in the picture below are the only cosmetic flaws of this otherwise factory-new pedal from 1980:

The battery from December 1979 looks like new as well and the multimeter says that it still delivers over 9.3 V! How crazy is that? When I spotted the battery while filming my unboxing video, I feared that the whole battery compartment was covered with battery acid.

That is sooooo cool!
Rarely seen time machine gear is just as exciting to see as wildly beat up gear in my book. You don't see many older pedals on the extreme ends of condition.
The battery is a trip! It's a dry cell/carbon, right? I had forgotten about the 80s era "BOSS" labeled batteries.

Re: New BOSS pedals!
Yes, it should be a zinc-carbon battery. Maybe Laurie has an explanation why it hasn't leaked yet.
Re: New BOSS pedals!
That is nice!
Mine is 8/82, JRC4558DD chip, too. Has the orange/black diodes and set screw knobs.
When I tried to remove the massive piece of velcro, there was no label to be found, so I just left the velcro intact. No biggie, picked it up about 10-ish years ago in a pawn shop along with a 1989 BF2--which also had a massive piece of velcro, but was able to remove it and save the green label. $50 out the door for both!
Here it is with the B50...
Re: New BOSS pedals!
Despite having a keeper--a well worn 11/85 DF2 Distortion-Feedbacker, which replaced the Dist/Feedbacker I got new in 1985 and sold around 1992.
I happened across a pretty clean 6/86 Feedbacker-Distortion for beyond a good deal. Maybe it stays, maybe I try the weird, synth oscillation tweak to it..?
