boss es-8 levels issue

i'm setting up my es8 and I'm trying to match volume levels. there is a substantial volume drop between when i have the es8 active (no active loops) and when i bypass the es8 is there a way to fix this i have already maximized the output buffer to +6db. I use my polytune's input buffer.

That sounds like a very strange issue. Normally you would expect to have a slight volume boost, but not such a significant volume drop. I don't know if someone of our long-time members have the ES-8. Hopefully you will find a solution soon.

I just had a quick look at the manual. Does it change its behaviour if you switch the input buffer on or off?

I figured out that bypassing the es 8 in the 4 cable method removes the preamp (in the volume loop) causing the drop in volume

Glad to hear you figured out the problem, and took the time to post it here in case anyone else with the same issue is looking for an answer.

How to you find the ES-8? I really like the concept but suspect it’s probably overkill for my needs tbh.
