Hi all
Apologies in advance if this has been discussed before but I was wondering if anyone on the site has any experience with the Katana V3 or any of the Katana range as I’ve read they can sound great and from I’ve seen on YouTube many people get great results using them but I’ve also read they can have issues with blowing fuses ….
I’m currently using an original Roland micro cube on a gig on Monday nights and I’ve really been enjoying just using it on the classic stack setting with the gain below 12 O’Clock and the volume up past halfway with just a volume pedal for rhythm and lead and I had an idea doing something similar on the bigger gigs after watching a Thomann demo video where it was mentioned you can run the Katana head on the line out direct to PA without a cab….
I’d also be switching between acoustic and electric as well and it was mentioned that the acoustic setting on the V3 is actually an acoustic preamp as opposed to the acoustic simulation on the cube …( which actually isn’t the worst when used with a real acoustic )
I’d probably just run the SDE 3000d and the Flint in the effects loop if this idea was a runner ….
Gen 1 and 2 Katana amps and heads can be picked up locally fairly cheap secondhand is there any point even upgrading the Gen 3 …?
Thanks ….
Boss Katana Gen 3
Re: Boss Katana Gen 3
I recently bought a new Katana Artist Gen3 100W combo at Guitar Center in Las Vegas. I'm happy with the sound and versatility so far but have only used it at practice and at home. It's rather expensive, big and kind of heavy for a single 12" combo amp. We have outdoor gigs coming up in April & May and my hope is that this thing won't get lost on a big outdoor stage. We'll see how that works out.
