The "32 TB2" pedal...
Ah, yeah, g'day!
I've been talking to The_Doc about doing a one-off pedal for him. After the madness around the Boss TB-2w I mentioned in passing that I could probably build a version for a lot less than the prices floating around for the other options.
I have enough of the sorted Russian surplus MP16B transistors with close to the right gains to build one, so the "32 TB2" has been born.
The schematic will be based on this one: https://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/mkII.php

Super interested in this as well - I was looking at TB circuit diagrams after the TB-2w fiasco, as well as seeing what was on the market and reasonably priced.

I was going to do it on vero/perf board. But it got really messy.
So I laid out another PCB. The transistors will be socketed so you can try different ones.

I can do a few of these... The problem is the un-obtainum transistors.sclitheroe wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 2:08 pmSuper interested in this as well - I was looking at TB circuit diagrams after the TB-2w fiasco, as well as seeing what was on the market and reasonably priced.
They use 2 x gain of 70 and 1 x gain of 100. I have the gain of 70 no problem. The transistors with gain of 100 are rocking-horse-poo. Of the 1,000 transistors I tested, there are less than 10 transistors with gains "around 100" (not exactly, but somewhere between 90 and 110) so I can make maybe 8 full Ge versions of this pedal. And that's it.
You will see on the PCB I've allowed for a silicon Q3... so if I ever need to I can build a Ge/Si hybrid.

See below for better mock-up.
Colour will be "antique nickel metallic".

Hmmmm.... I just checked on SmallBear. They sell hand-picked sets of transistors for Tonebenders, and every single variation is out-of-stock.
Looks like lots of renewed interest in this type of pedal.

If I can get 8 pre-orders for the 32 TB2 I can do it for the same price as the 32 OD (USD$95).
If fewer, no worries! The price will be a bit higher (probably USD $140).
