Re: New (broken) pedal day!

Will just chime in here that while the CS9 is one of my favorite chorus pedals of all time, the vintage ones often have a lot of weird LFO noise (that the reissues do not suffer from).

Re: New BOSS pedals!

The only pedal that I distinctly remember the price is when I ordered a DF2 from Musician's Friend. This was in 1985, and MF was a newsprint catalog from their home base in Oregon. I was going to get a DS1 for $50, but saw the DF2 for $55. All of the other BOSS pedals I got around late 83/early 84,...

Re: New BOSS pedals!

it was as very slim carbon copy paper I thought it was just a layer of insulation but it was folded up. may '82 someone bought a Ross Flanger and Boss CE-2 for $250 total, so these things were always pretty expensive! That was the good old "list price" era of gear where buying most gear was like bu...

Re: New BOSS pedals!

I'm curious what you think of the models in the IR2, zentropa. I was presuming "Twn" "Tweed" "Crunch" and "Brit" would be my jams, but no... "Clean" and "Modded" sound/perform best for me. Funny, both are BOSS/Roland MDP creations. I only gave it a brief 10 minute test run with headphones to make s...

Re: New BOSS pedals!

I have often thought about picking up a $80 NF1 and doing the SG1 conversion. I wouldn't use it much, but I can see where and how I could, and it would be fun to have for those moments... The other option would be a Behinger SM200 or perhaps one of the smaller Chinese pedals. I would prefer to just...

Re: New (broken) pedal day!

That's very good information, thank you! Seventy-Five SD-1 units?! Well, that's quite crazy. I used to mod DS-1, SD-1, and MT-2 to sell for profit. e.g. buy a DS-1 for $20, do the keeley mods to it (~$3-5 in parts), and sell it for $70. I did this for 2-3 years and ended up with a lot of di...

Re: New (broken) pedal day!

Looks good. I didn't like the SD-1 much in my younger days, particularly when I was playing solid state amps, but it has grown into one of my favorite overdrives of all time. I like it for low to medium grit into a clean amp, but it is my primary boost for dirty amps. I've probably had about 75 of t...

Re: The SD2 is my favorite yellow BOSS pedal.

That does sound possible.

I know the 1993 I had was a different shade of yellow than my January 1994 and my 1998. If memory serves, the 1993 was darker.

My guess is that it is the body/board from a later version, bottom plate and foot plate from an earlier one.
